Turns out I love fall. There is still color and warmth in our days, I just hate knowing winter is next. I finally had that realization this year and now have a new attitude, I am going to enjoy the warm afternoons and crisp mornings and evenings and worry about winter when it comes. Transition periods really are my favorite because I get to where my old stuff from the previous season along with some new things I’ve purchased here and there for the current season.
My look here is the perfect example of that. My shoes I got in the spring so they are no longer new but not old either, my jeans, well, I can’t even tell you how old they are and I’m going to talk more about them next and my sweater is new. I got it during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale (it also just got marked down 50%!) and I love it. I don’t typically wear pink like this but I love the shape and the color so I decided to go for it and I’m happy I did. It’s very thin so I jacket can be easily added in the evening.
A little about these jeans. They are forever old and very simple, basic black skinny jeans. I probably got these jeans when skinny jeans first came out. I have held onto them because they are simple, black, skinny jeans and should always be in style. Most jeans are too long on me and when skinny jeans first came out it was ok to leave your pants scrunched at the bottom if they were too long. Then the crop style came in which was perfect for me because it ends up being a normal length. What did I do with my too long jeans during the crop phase?… I cuffed them 2-3 times. You can see how I did that here and here from previous posts.
This past year hems of all different sorts have come out. One that I’m really into is the “step hem” which means the hem of your jeans is cut to be uneven. I took that look as inspiration and upgraded my basic skinny jeans by cutting off the hem. I did it quickly in the car after I realized I didn’t like that they were so long that I needed to cuff them a few times. I need to make these jeans have a bit more of a “step”, I’ll be doing a little more cutting until they are perfect.
Jeans, a top and heels is my go to. I try to not let it be boring and finding pieces with accents helps keep my wardrobe interesting. Not only does this sweater have the cold shoulder, it has ruffles too! It doesn’t seem to get any more feminine than pink ruffles which is a little out of my comfort zone so I tried to edge the look up by wearing black. I’ll be taking another approach to this sweater next time I wear it for sure. Any advice?
