When I send out holiday party invitations I always make a note to mention the attire is “festive”. To me, festive means a little extra. Guests can interpret festive anyway they like, I choose shimmer, sparkles or faux fur. Since festive items aren’t everyday staples there is no need to spend a lot of money on them. This skirt is my perfect festive staple that I will be wearing for the next couple of months.
Another fun festive accent is jewels. Rhinestones and pearls are always a good idea around the holiday season.
Till the season for velvet, faux fur, suede and turtlenecks. In this case I’m wearing a mock turtleneck. Pleated skirts, velvet pleated skirts are everywhere. You can find them printed, with lace details (this may be my favorite), for thousands of dollars and under $25 dollars. I spotted my skirt and bought it without even trying it on. I’m wearing an XS because that’s all they had left but I would have preferred a small as the skirt runs true to size. If you want to support my friends local boutique you can purchase this amazing gold velvet pleated skirt that my friend Megan recently wore! Fur is very seasonal and I enjoy bringing out my small collection of furry things in November. This jacket is Splendid and is from last year. I love that it is bomber style! I’ve also had this mock turtleneck and booties for a couples years as they have become great repeat staples.
