How To Wear Cropped Flares In The Winter

Cropped flares. Now, this is a tricky trend that even I second guess. This particular pant I’m wearing here is from a purchase in fall 2016. I wore this pant to Art on Fire that year, you can see those outfit details here.  Since it was fall, I wore it with a bootie and leather jacket. I made sure to have some skin showing between my shoes and the hem of my pants. I always prefer to shoe a little skin if possible.
Come 2017 and now 2018 wearing boots with cropped jeans is such a norm. If you google boots with cropped pants loads of pictures will pop up. Wearing boots with your cropped pants allows you to dress a little warmer, throw on a coat over a sweater and you’ll be warm and stylish!
I got obsessed with these Mother cropped jeans that I got over the summer in white and light blue. You can see how I styled them over the summer here, here (worn with these awesome mules that now come in gold!), here, here annnnnd here. I would have loved to wear these this winter but they are high waisted and high wasted jeans were the first thing to go in my wardrobe due to my bump.  I would says I got my moneys worth with both pairs of jeans. You better believe I’ll be wearing them again this summer when I can tuck my left over baby pooch into the high waist!
I do like that today’s style is more of a crop boot cut instead of a crop flare, it seems to be less dramatic.
I’m not a fan of the PCV styel sandal because your skin turns white under the strap and it just looks like the shoe is uncomfortable. Maybe if it is is small accent I would like it but I do love the lucite heel on this bootie I am wearing. I found this black velvet bootie with a lucite heel that I am really obsessed with. They are also on major sale but I know I don’t need two pair of black booties with lucite heels.
Tips And Ideas On Wearing Cropped Flares
Most of you will say you are too short to wear these jeans. You aren’t. I am just under 5’4” and I don’t think I’m too short for them. Now you may need to get your jeans hemmed or you can even cut them so you have at least 3” from your hem to the top of your foot.
This isn’t a dressy pant so stay clear of high heels but high heel booties are perfect, let the flare hang over the top of the boot. You can also wear a mule or a block heel, you need a heavy shoe to balance out the flare of the pant.

The Breakdown:
I went back and forth on what shoes jeans to wear with this sweater, what shoes to wear with the cropped jeans and when I finally got my outfit and accessories together I couldn’t figure out what to do with my hair. It was one of those days where my hair wasn’t cooperating so it couldn’t be worn down. My top knot wasn’t full enough and a hat was a little too much. I’m still thrown off by the brightness of this sweater. It is by far the only thing in my closet this bright but it feels nice to have a pop of something mixed with all my neutrals.
