If you are looking for a practical makeup look for the summer this is for you. There aren’t too many steps and the products are very lightweight!
Summer is not the time for me to wear a lot of makeup. The most I wear on my face is a tinted moisturizer, unless I am going to an event where I will be photographed. Some days call for a little bit a beauty and this is is my go to look. Let me know what you think!

I count my first Mother’s Day to be the one when I was pregnant with my first son. When I do my gift guides I try to be practical and I think really hard what the majority of the moms in my life would like and hopefully everyone can find a little bit of gift inspiration here. You can’t go wrong with personalized jewelry, I love this necklace that you can choose your children’s birthstone and it comes with a little leaf with their initial. I just ordered one for my mom and sister, I was going to order one for myself when I realized my sons birthstones are ruby and emerald, that’s red and green, which is just too Christmas-y for me. I have had my eye on this “Mama” necklace (and this belt) for a few months (and I recently found this “mama” necklace for more than half the price! Both necklaces would go great with these darling little studs.
Mother’s are busy and it is hard time for self-care but if you get them some beauty things as a gift they will have to find the time to relax. We chase are kids around also and need shoes that are chic and comfortable. I have these sneakers and they are just as cute with joggers, leggins and denim shorts. I saw this fun printer that I know every mom would love, you can print 4×6 photos right from you phone! The last thing I want to mention are these leggings. I just ordered my first pair by this brand, Strut-This, and I love them. At first I thought they would run too small but they fit like a glove and really hold your waist in! What mom doesn’t want that!?

It is no secret that I am not into neeedles. It isn’t that they scare me, I just don’t want to get into looking like someone I’m not. My forehead wrinkles do drive me crazy and sometimes I get little wrinkles under my eyes that bother me, there is a good chance Botox will enter my life, maybe even fillers but hopefully not too soon. I will never say never. In the meantime, I am doing the best I can to take care of my young 3o year old skin with creams and facials. Esthetiques Skin Spa offers a needle-free filler facial. The name in itself confused me but sounded interesting and once I learned more about the filler facial I knew I wanted to give it a try.
Prior to receiving the needle-freee filler facial I got a nano facial. The nano facial is microchanelling using nano technology to create microinjuries to the skin resulting in little to no downtime and immediate results. After the microchanelling was done I asked what the tool looked like so I could have a better understanding. It wasn’t what I expected but what just this tiny little thing that when turned on moved very fast. To be more specific, there are 49 silicone spheres each 1/3 the size of a human hair located inside each disposable tip! I told you it was tiny. Brandi, my sweet esthetician, customizes a new concoction each time to infuse into the skin during the nano facial.
Next, came the no-needle filler facial which uses Poly L Lactic Acid which is the plumping ingredient found in the facial filler Sculptra and is known for its long lasting effects. During my filler facial I asked a lot of questions because I really wanted to understand how what my face was going to get “filled with”, Poly L Lactic Acid is that key ingredient. Also included is caffeine and niacinamide to relax and plump wrinkles in the top layer of skin. The filler concoction was spread evenly over my face and neck and then a hydrogen mask was applied. A Poly L Lactic Acid mist was spritzed to adhere the mask to the face and neck. Then an LED light is turned on to amplify the results of the filler facial. After about 20 minutes the mask dissolves and forms a crust on the skin which is removed by peeling it away after 30 minutes.
The facial ends with a final spritz of Poly L Lactic Acid spray and a final warning of “do not get your skin wet for 12 hours” that means no makeup unless it’s eye makeup and then you still can’t remove it for 12 hours. You need to plan your facial so you don’t need to put on make up or sweat. This was no problem for me except my lips. I love putting on anytype of moisturizer on my lips and I needed to wait 12 hours!
I love that they treat your neck and chest. No point in having your face look nice and young while your neck and chest look aged.
Immediately after the facial there was some redness to my face that only lasted a few hours. It looked as though I had just worked out and my skin looked so nice! I couldn’t stop staring in the mirror. There were subtle changes that made a huge difference to me. Bye-bye fine lines! Check out my before and afters.

Over the weekend I attended a little holiday shoot, my first of the season. I decided to do a holiday beauty look including a metal eye with some shimmer, from the inner corners to the outer went gold, rose gold and silver. I love mixing metals in my jewelry so I decided to try it out on my eyes. I wore a liquid eyeliner which I don’t do often but it felt more glam. On my face I did a bronzed look.
Since becoming a mother for the second time my body has once again gone through a number of changes, especially my skin. Not only has it changed due to hormones but I have found I have less time to take care of it. I’ve never been one to have a skincare routine until I found Lavelier, a skincare line whos key ingredient is antioxidant-rich coral seaweed. Since receiving their Marine Essentials collection I have taken time to myself every morning and evening to care for my skin. Washing my face, applying moisturizer and giving my skin some attention has become one of my favorite parts of the day.

There is one more special product, Lavelier Advanced Marine Bio-Syringe. This syringe is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and DMAE making it a very powerful anti-wrinkle treatment. Since this product contains DMAE I will be saving it for when I’m done nursing but I did have to try it just once and wow does it work! I have fine lines across my forehead that drive me crazy and this product made them disappear within minutes! By the way, the syringe is fake, you don’t actually have to use a needle, it’s just super cute packaging.
I’m not interested in botox or fillers anything putting any sort of needles in my face (for now that is) but I am really interested in applying products that will help with fine lines and dark spots. The older I get the more I am willing to spend on my skincare products because I really want to have great healthy and moisturized skin.

The change in weather always has me wanting to update my beauty routine. My skin seems to be struggling these days so I am needing all the help I can get. I did get a blush but otherwise I am saving my new make up buys until another month or so when my tan has sadly faded. Below you can find my recent buys.
What you put on your skin is important and what you put inside your body is even more important. Unfortunately, I am really bad about being consistent with both of these things but I am trying to get better. I have had most of these ingredients in my pantry in the past and I hate to admit I’ve never finished a bag of any of them, except chia seeds which I didn’t add to this recipe but you easily could. Now that I am in my 30’s I know I need to nourish my body and I have become better at being consistent with a beauty routine and a healthy routine, especially in the mornings which is the perfect time to drink my strawberry spinach beauty smoothie.
I love having smoothies packed with nutrients, they are easy to make and great for my body. A short three years ago my smoothie recipes didn’t contain protein powder to my smoothies let alone maca powder and collagen. Some supplements and vitamins can taste bad but when you add other yummy ingredients you can’t tell. The taste of maca powder can be a bit much so stick to the serving size of 1 teaspoon, cacao nibs aren’t the best when you eat them but when blended in a smoothie adds just enough sweetness and hint of chocolate, collagen has no taste and I think we all know what protein powder taste like. I also like to add spinach to just about every smoothie I make because it doesn’t have much of a taste and is packed with many vitamins. Ingredients
1 cup spinach
1/4 cup strawberries
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tsp maca powder
1 tbsp cacao nibs
1 scoop of collagen powder
1 handful of ice
unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Here is a little bit of info about why I add some of these ingredients to my beauty smoothies:
protein powder – Helps sustain energy throughout the day. I love to snack but adding protein fills me up just enough to help me make it to my next meal.
maca powder – Maca is a root vegetable that has an earthy flavor and I do not recommend adding too much. It is packed with iron and vitamin C and supports daily energy.
cacao nibs – Somewhat of an unprocessed form of chocolate. It is filled with antioxidants, helps boost energy, prevents premature aging, burns fat and is high in fiber.
collagen powder – Collagen has anti-aging benefits for your skin, hair, nails, joints, and it promotes a healthy immune system. My husband takes it and I always thought it was for his joints and tendons only. Once I learned the benefits I started adding his collagen to my smoothies but now I have my own!

Hello! I am excited and nervous to share my first tutorial with you guys. I made it a goal for 2018 to start doing videos. I want to share my hairstyles, makeup applications and styling sessions. It took me days to figure out how to clip the video together but after a lot of Googling and YouTube-ing, I was able to figure it out!
Any time my hair is not in its natural and curly state I wear it curled. I have worn it straight a few times but I don’t like how straight hair looks on me because I’m used to much larger hair. I actually had straightened my hair before I did this video and my husband came home and asked why my hair was so flat to my head!
I have curled my hair by wrapping it around a barrel, twisting it, and using the old fashioned clamp, I’ve even used a tapered barrel but never a reversed tapered barrel. I decided I would share with you guys my first time experimenting with this type of barrel and a few tricks I learned along the way. Watch the video to see how I styled my hair!
Tips When Using A Reversed Tapered Barrel:
– On my first curl I realized I was pulling too tight causing the hair to gather at the base of the barrel because that’s the smaller end. Make sure to keep your hair separated along the barrel.
– I mentioned leaving 1-2 inches of hair at the bottom when wrapping. That is how much hair I leave out when I use a regular barrel or when I use the clamp. You should wrap your hair all the way to the end without burning your fingertips! Your ends will still be loose because the barrel is so much larger at the tip than the base.
– You see in the video, near the end, that I had some hair that curled on top of my head and was sticking up. That is because I started curling that section of hair too close to the root. Start wrapping your hair about 3 inches from the root. It is easy for the hair to slide up the barrel so be cautious of that.

That’s always a sad time for me and my bronze glow has disappeared and my face makeup is now two shades lighter. But honestly, buying new products is always fun.
I did a live video a couple weeks ago of my photo ready makeup routine and I had a lot of questions on the products so in this post you can find what I use and the order I put it on. THE STEPS– After washing my face I prepped my skin using my fingers with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Oil Free. While that sets in I prime my eyelids with Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion. I apply this over my eyelids up to my eyebrows and right under my lower lashes, anywhere that I’ll be applying eyeshadow.
– I use a 2-3 pumps of Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in golden on the back of my hand and use a damp Beauty Blender Pro to apply the foundation all over my face down my jawline. Back to my eyes to let that set. I love the Urban Decay Naked palettes, I have three different palettes and I love all the colors in them. My shadow is always different but I like to have fun and take my time blending the colors. I always put the lightest shimmer color in my inner corner of my eyes to help brighten them up.
– Now it’s time to contour. Using this brush and my Bobbi Brown bronzing powder, I apply under my cheekbones, my jawline, my hairline around my forehead and I’ll carefully do the tip of my nose and a little under my bottom lip.
– Blush is applied next. I have a few that I like but have been into this rosy blush lately. I tip I learned over the summer is to apply blush to the apples of your cheek for a day time casual look and if you are going for a more formal look apply the makeup past the apples of your cheeks up to your hairline.
– I don’t do heavy contouring so my highlighting is subtle bits of shimmer where light would naturally hit. I use this brush and apply my powder highlighter my cheekbones to my temples and down the bridge of my nose.
– Either my brows or lashes come next, no specific order. I don’t always curl my lashes, usually because I forget but when I do I use this curler and curl them before I apply mascara. I always apply two coats of mascara, the second coat is only on the tips to add a little extra length.
– I brush my brows before coloring them in with this brush. The brush is two sided and I use the other side to apply the powder to my brows, I use the darker shade on the outer brow and the lighter shade on the inner brow. My brows are pretty long so I have to brush them up and down when I’m coloring them in. After the coloring is done I use a clear gel to hold them in place.
– The last thing I do is apply a finishing powder. I only do this when I’m know I’m going to be getting my picture taken. It helps absorb shine and sets the makeup. You only need a little bit and I use this brush to apply it.
